Elvira Margarita Cortes

Elvira Margarita Cortes, also known as "Margie," 92, of Jersey City, passed away on Saturday, November 5th, 2022. Visiting will be at the funeral home on Monday, November 14, 2022 from 2:00 -4:00 pm and 7:00 -9:00 pm. Funeral Service on Tuesday, 11/15, at 9:00 am at the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial will be at St Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Jersey City, on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 10:00 am. Burial will take place at Bayview Cemetery in Jersey City, NJ at 11:30 am.

Elvira came to Jersey City in 1959 from Utuado, Puerto Rico. She worked as a Teacher's Aide at St. Mary's Roman Catholic School for many years teaching Spanish. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Elvira leaves behind to cherish her memory Elvira's beloved family of grandchildren, including Edwin, Kathy, Jackie, Jaime, Michael, Dagmar, Melissa, Madeline, her 14 great grandchildren, her 6 great great grandchildren, her late daughter Milagro Alvarez, Migdalia Rivera, Angelic Ramos, and her late son Luis Torres. She was the daughter of the late Joaquin Cortes Rodriguez and Mercedes Portalatin Ramos.
