Helen Rogers (nee Ostaszewska), was a life-long resident of Downtown Jersey City. She was born, raised, and lived her entire life in the same house on Seventh Street. Her husband Peter Rogers preceded her in death in 2008.
Helen was an active member of Saint Anthony's Church, and supportive of its grammar school programs while her children were in attendance. She was also an active member of Saint Anthony's Rosarian Society and Senior Club. Helen was also an active participant at St Ann's, O.L.C.'s and Grace Van Vorst's Senior Clubs.
For twenty-five years she worked as a School Crossing Guard for many of the neighborhood downtown schools. She enjoyed many summers at the family home in Seaside Park, NJ.
Her family and many friends will remember Helen as a generous, patient and understanding woman who loved to laugh. She will be missed!
Helen is survived by her loving three children Beverly Rogers, Bruce Rogers, and Charlotte Gentile; Charlotte's husband, Benjamin Gentile; three grandsons, Nicholas, Benjamin and Julian Gentile; one great-grandchild, Violet Gentile and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Relatives & friends are invited to attend the Visiting on Tuesday, 12/22, at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Jersey City. Interment to follow, Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
